Think about it: a 1/10th Britannia might cost you 10-15% over spot, while a full ounce is often 3-5%. That extra premium eats into your wealth accumulation. If you're buying gold, you want as much *gold* for your money as possible. Fractionals only really make sense if your budget is tiny, or you're specifically worried about future micro-transactions. For long-term wealth, stick to full ounces. Don't waste money on premiums.

Absolutely spot on! My first few purchases were fractionals and I quickly realised how much premium I was shelling out. Switched to full ounces exclusively soon after and never looked back. More gold for your quid, simple as.
Good point about gold premiums, mate. But when you're truly after maximum physical metal for your quid, nothing beats silver. Far more ounces for your cash, premium or not. That's real stacking value in my book!
Good point on premiums for full ounce Britannias, OP. Absolutely. But don't write off sovereigns entirely – their premiums often hold up well, especially for liquidity and smaller units. They're a classic for a reason, perfect for splitting the stack.
I agree with silver but with gold it is to expensive for most people so fractional and buying over a long time makes more sense to me

Couldn't agree more, mate! I learned this the hard way years ago with a few 1/4oz coins – the premium hit was brutal. Now, it's 1oz or nothing for stacking. Maximising ounces for your quid is absolutely key.
Absolutely, the premium argument for full ounces is compelling. For me, larger pieces also simplify vaulted storage logistics and costs. Less faff, more gold for your quid, and peace of mind knowing it's safe off-site.
For pure gold weight, absolutely. But as a numismatist, I also look at older fractional gold like Sovereigns. Their premium often reflects historical and collector value, which can be just as important as bullion weight in the long run. Different goals, innit?
