My View: CGT-Free Gold Always Wins

Right, for me, CGT-free coins like Sovereigns and Britannias win hands down. Paying slightly more premium upfront to avoid 20% (or more!) capital gains tax later is a no-brainer, especially with gold at £3143.97/oz. Why give HMRC a slice of your hard-earned profits? Pure weight bars might seem cheaper per ounce initially, but that tax bill could easily wipe out any premium savings on a decent sized stack. I'd rather have the full profit in my pocket. Silver at £50.76/oz is a different beast, but for gold, it's gotta be CGT-exempt.
