For me, it's home storage first and foremost. The true beauty of physical precious metals, especially with gold at £3147/oz and silver at £50.56/oz, is having them in *your* possession. Instant access is key. No fees, no third-party risk. Of course, a decent, bolted-down safe is absolutely essential. Don't skimp on security! But for larger, really significant amounts, I absolutely see the argument for vaulting. It offers professional security and peace of mind you can't replicate at home. I split mine: core holdings at home, larger bullion elsewhere. It’s about balance.

Needed some cash quickly during a bank holiday, my silver was instantly accessible; can't beat having that physical control.
